The release of the Snapdragon 898 nears, with the next-generation SoC seemingly due in a few weeks. The Snapdragon 898 could debut in the Xiaomi 12 series, but Qualcomm will showcase the chip first at its next Tech Summit.

Qualcomm has revealed the dates of its next Tech Summit, during which it usually announces new silicon. This year's summit will commence on November 30, although it is unclear where. Currently, Qualcomm has also confirmed that the summit will finish on December 2; unfortunately, Qualcomm has not left any hints in its website code, either.

Presumably, Qualcomm will use its next summit to showcase the Snapdragon 898, its next flagship SoC. For context, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 888 at last year's summit, surprising people by not calling it the Snapdragon 875.

Unsurprisingly, Qualcomm has not commented on the Snapdragon 898 yet. However, its CPU and GPU configuration has already leaked. Reputedly, the Snapdragon 898 will feature an ARM Cortex-X2 CPU core complemented by three Cortex-A710 cores and four Cortex-A510 cores.

While the Cortex-X2 is expected to top out at 3 GHz, Qualcomm may restrict the Cortex-A710 to 2.5 GHz. By contrast, the Snapdragon 898's Cortex-A510 cores will run at up 1.79 GHz, understandable as they will be there to keep the SoC's power efficiency in check. An Adreno 730 GPU and X65 5G modem are expected to be on board, too.
