Tesla is now offering free Supercharging for a vehicle it has rarely offered gratis charging for before, even though the freebie was recently discovered in its app code.
Faced with a precipitous drop in sales in Canada, the Tesla marketing team is now giving away free Supercharging for a year with each Model 3 purchase there, indicating where some of the weak sales number may come from when it reports its Q2 results.
The Model 3 and Model Y are Tesla's bestselling vehicles that form the bulk of its revenue. While the Model Y got a refresh launched in Q2, the increased prices of Tesla vehicles in Canada due to tariffs, and the general shift in attitude towards Elon Musk's political activism may have reflected badly on the Model 3.
This may be why Tesla is now combining a 3-month FSD trial offer with free Supercharging for a year on any Model 3 purchase delivered by the end of the quarter, or June 30.
Order a new Model 3 and take delivery by June 30, 2025 to be eligible for 1 year of free Supercharging. Tesla does not guarantee vehicle availability or delivery by June 30, 2025 and will not grant exceptions. Promotion is tied to your Tesla Account and cannot be transferred to another vehicle, person or order, even in the case of ownership transfer. Used vehicles, business orders and vehicles used for commercial purposes (like taxi, rideshare and delivery services) are excluded from this promotion.
The free Model 3 Supercharging deal is only offered on new vehicles, like those cars in its inventory that still enjoy the pre-tariff pricing.
Unfortunately, the CA$82,600 starting price of a Model 3 with delivery after tariffs isn't very conducive to sales otherwise, so it remains to be seen how many Tesla fans in Canada will be lulled to the free charging offer.
