Surface Laptop Studio hands-on pictures pit Microsoft's latest laptop against the Surface Book 3
Undoubtedly, the Surface Laptop Studio is the most exciting product that Microsoft has announced in years. Even though the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Duo 2 are notable anyway for the improvements that they offer over their predecessors, the Surface Laptop Studio is the talking point from yesterday's event.
Arguably, Microsoft did not do a great job of visualising the Surface Laptop Studio's footprint. While the device may be thinner than the Surface Book on paper, its recessed element makes it look a lot thicker than its spiritual predecessor. However, Scott Hanselman, Partner Program Manager at Microsoft, has published hands-on photos comparing his Surface Laptop Studio with a Surface Book 3 15.
As the photos below show, the Surface Laptop Studio is noticeably more compact than the Surface Book 3 15, despite only having a 0.6-inch smaller display. The Surface Laptop Studio and Surface Book 3 15 are comparable in thickness too, although it seems that the keyboard sits slightly higher on the former than the latter.
Incidentally, Hanselman admitted that he has been using 'development versions of [the] Surface Laptop Studio for well over a year'. Presumably, the likes of Hanselman are already testing early development models of future Surface products that will arrive in 2022 or 2023.
