CES 2012 | Samsung's Series 5 ULTRA coming in February, start at $899

CES 2012: Samsung is joining the Ultrabook party with their new Series 5 Ultrabooks. Available in February, the 13.3" notebook weighs 1.43kg and is 17.6mm thick.

Samsung has finally joined the Ultrabook party, and they've officially introduced their new 13.3" Series 5 ULTRA notebooks here at CES 2012 in Las Vegas. The Ultrabooks are available in two models, the Series 5 53083B A01 and 530U3B A02 and feature either an Intel Core i5-2467M (1.6GHz) or an Intel Core i7-2637M (1.7GHz). In addition, the Core i5 model comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM,  while the i7 can be equipped with up to 8GB. 

Dubbed as the Series 5 ULTRA, the notebooks come in at 315.1 x 218.9 x 17.6 millimeters and weigh just 1.43kg (3.15lbs). The 13.3" WXGA display will also come with a resolution of 1366x768 and and is powered by Intel 3000 HD Graphics. On the other hand, unlike most other Ultrabooks, the Series 5 ULTRA comes stock with a 5,400 RPM 500GB HDD, although a 128GB SSD is available as an option.

As far as ports go, the notebooks come with 1xUSB 3.0, 2xUSB 2.0, HDMI , a combined microphone and headphone jack, a 4-in-1 card reader and an integrated 1.3MP webcam. The battery should last for 1,500 cycles at up to 7 hours per charge.

Both notebooks should be available next month starting at $899.
