Samsung has unveiled a new version of the Galaxy Watch 4. The new model offers practically the same specifications as the regular Galaxy Watch 4, but with a few software adjustments aimed at golf fans.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is one of two smartwatches to launch with Wear OS 3, albeit the One UI Watch variant of it. Now, the company has announced a new version of its latest smartwatch in South Korea, officially marketed as the 'Golf Edition'.

Unsurprisingly, Samsung has not overhauled a smartwatch that it only recently announced. Instead, the Galaxy Watch 4 Golf Edition has the same design and hardware as the regular Galaxy Watch 4. Thus, the Golf Edition has an Exynos W920 SoC, an AMOLED display, a digital bezel and numerous health features.

However, the Golf Edition adds a Smart Caddy app that contains detailed information on over 40,000 golf courses, mirroring Garmin's Approach smartwatches, which contain routes of over 41,000 courses. The Galaxy Watch 4 Golf Edition can also display the differences in altitude on a given golf course while delivering a strategy for each saved course.

Samsung has not announced if it plans to sell the Galaxy Watch 4 Golf Edition outside of South Korea. However, it will retail there for KRW 299,000 as a 40 mm Wi-Fi model, equivalent to US$254 at current exchange rates. There is also a 44 mm Wi-Fi model for KRW 329,000 (~US$280); an LTE version will follow. Both models cost KRW 30,000 (~US$25) more than their standard siblings, giving you an idea of what a Galaxy Watch 4 Golf Edition may cost if Samsung ever sells it internationally.
