The new Galaxy A17 series of Android smartphones is "coming soon" to the European market, according to a sales page left up by the Italian online retailer Epto. The new leak suggests that it might not be quite as affordable as its A16 predecessors in the region, though.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A16 5G's base model for €229 in Europe, whereas its successor might be up to €70.90 more.
The "A17 5G" apparently starts at €299.90 on Epto - and even that is a special offer on a unit with a €319.90 RRP. Then again, it now has a minimum of 256GB of internal storage to go with its 8GB of RAM, as opposed to 128GB in the A16 5G.
Even the 4G/LTE-only version of the A17 comes in at an un-generous €289.90 at the same configuration.
The A17 5G is thought to come with an updated, potentially more robust design that even has display glass made of high-end Gorilla Glass Victus, and to augment its 50MP main rear camera with OIS.
Then again, it is also thought to retain an old-fashioned waterdrop-notch screen driven by the outdated Exynos 1330 SoC, to have the same IP54 water-/dust-proofing and even the same 5,000mAh battery as the A16 5G.
Therefore, it is possible that current owners of that smartphone may not feel too much pressure to upgrade on the next generation's possibly imminent launch.
