Pro-Ject Audio Systems introduces Flatten It, a temperature-controlled vinyl record flattener designed for efficient and safe correction of warped records.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems has unveiled the Flatten It record flattening machine for vinyl enthusiasts. It has an MSRP of €799 (~$893) and can be purchased from the Pro-ject website. Readers can also check the Pro-ject store on Amazon US / Amazon DE for stock.

Vinyl records are manufactured from polyvinyl chloride, which can warp and bend if stored incorrectly, such as in hot environments, at an angle, or improperly stacked. Cheaper DIY methods often do not work well or take an unreasonable amount of time to correct the warping. Competing flattening machines from Orb and Furutech have been more expensive.

Pro-ject, a division of Audio Tuning Vertriebs GmbH, has made its flattener with heated aluminium plates. The temperature-controlled heating element has an accurate hysteresis of 2 °C, preventing overheating of the warped records during the one hour heating and two hour cooling cycle.

The Flatten It is compatible with all record sizes and thicknesses. It measures 365 x 60 x 420 mm (14.4 x 2.4 x 16.5 in.) and weighs 4 kg (8.8 lbs.). It is compatible with worldwide power sources (110/120 or 230/240 volts at 50 or 60 Hz).
