Nothing has started rolling out a new call recording feature for its phones, but the catch is that only a handful of models and regions are getting it for now. The update arrives through Essential Space, the company’s in-house service, and it automatically enables call recording without requiring a manual update. That means users don’t need to download or install anything for the feature to appear, as it’s part of a server-side rollout handled by Nothing itself.
Once available, you’ll be able to record a voice call by either long-pressing the Essential Key or tapping “Start recording” in the call notification bar. After the call ends, the recording will be stored within Essential Space, ready for playback whenever you need it. Nothing says this update is available for the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro, with availability currently limited to users in India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the UK. The company has confirmed that it plans to expand support to more markets over time, though no exact dates have been shared yet.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Nothing users have seen recording tools appear on their devices. Earlier last year, the company quietly added a recorder widget that could capture calls without the usual notification tone, effectively allowing discreet recording. However, that widget later disappeared from some devices after app updates, leaving users uncertain about its status. Now, with this official rollout through Essential Space, Nothing seems to be standardizing how call recording works across its devices, though it’s clearly starting small.
