Another new Govee smart lighting projector has been released: the Star Light Projector (Ocean Wave). Spotted on the company’s website earlier this year, the product arrives alongside the similar Star Light Projector (Nebula).
The Govee Star Light Projector (Ocean Wave) can create water ripple effects using four RGBW lamp beads combined with a layered textured lens. For context, the Nebula version of the device creates starry sky patterns. Both variants can produce white and colored lighting effects to cover an area measuring up to 540 ft² (~50 m²). With the Ocean Wave, there are around ten fewer scene modes, though users still have over 40 dynamic lighting presets to choose from in the Govee Home app. Plus, you can create your own customized effects.
Another similarity between the two Star Light Projectors is the built-in Bluetooth speaker. You could use this to play music, a podcast or an audiobook, or select from the 18 white noise options provided by Govee. The Ocean Wave has a smart sleep mode, dimming the lights over time, and will run quietly, generating 25 dB noise. There are integrations for Alexa and Google Home, and support for the Matter protocol means it will work with a range of smart home ecosystems.
Customers in the US can currently buy the Govee Star Light Projector (Ocean Wave) at Amazon for $69.99, a $20 discount on the $89.99 RRP. There are also offers at Amazon in countries like the UK and Germany, with the prices lowered from £99.99/€99.99 to £79.99/€79.99.
