2025 has been the year of the 8,000mAh smartphone: a battery capacity unheard-of in an otherwise relatively ordinary mid-range device like the Honor Power even a year ago.
Somehow not content to stop there, its maker proceeded to supplant it with the world's first non-rugged 8,000mAh+ handset thereafter. Other companies, OnePlus, iQoo and Xiaomi included, are rumored to make ~7,000mAh the norm in heretofore ~6,000mAh flagships by the year's end.
It follows that 2026 could easily be the year of the 8,500mAh smartphone, if not its 9,000mAh equivalent. Furthermore, the typically knowledgeable leaker Digital Chat Station claims that one smartphone OEM will start working on a "10,000mAh" device in the first half of next year.
Like the Honor Power and X70, it is thought to be a mid-ranger plugging its new 5-figure spec as a unique selling point.
Its 8,300mAh predecessor also manages to support flagship-grade fast wireless charging, while the Power is unusually thin even for a device of its capacity.
Hopefully, their alleged 10,000mAh counterpart will be able to pack similar features in with its potentially monumental battery technology.
