LG has announced today that they were initiating global shipments for the G6. Retailers and operators to receive their stock soon, with the US market receiving the devices on April 7.

After months of speculation, LG has officially announced that their G6 flagship smartphone will begin rolling out this week to carriers all over the world. Not one to miss an opportunity to take a dig at competitor Samsung, LG says that the G6 is the first global flagship smartphone to ship in 2017.

Almost 200 carriers and operators worldwide will be receiving the phone over the next few weeks. Among the first are major carriers on the US market such as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint who will make the phone available starting April 7th, though you can also preorder the phone. In addition to the US release, Asia, Central and South America, and Europe will be getting the G6 soon, and the pricing is said to be in the ballpark of $600 to $700.

Like the Samsung Galaxy S8, the LG G6 has a large display with a similar 18:9 aspect ratio. As two major flagship smartphones targeting a similar audience with release dates within weeks of each other, the competition between the S8 and the G6 will be fierce. LG needs the G6 to succeed, as they have no intention of repeating the flop that was the LG G5 last year.
