Chinese companies are known to chase trends. Be it the curved screens that Samsung first popularized with their Galaxy lineup or the flat sides of the recent iPhone models, you can often find Chinese smartphone makers take a page out of Samsung/Apple’s book. This time around, the ultra-slim Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge seems to have made thinness the new trend, propelling Chinese companies like Infinix to build their own super-thin phones.
According to an exclusive leak by UniverseIce on X, the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ is launching soon with a thickness of less than 6 mm. Coming in at just 5.95 mm, the leaker claims that the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ will “set a new record for the thinnest curved screen phone”.
To illustrate the thinness of the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+, the leaker shows photos of the phone from the side, comparing it to what seems like an Apple iPhone 14. The Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ does look incredibly thin when placed against the 7.8 mm iPhone 14. The purported 5.95 mm thickness of the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ is also comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which comes in at 5.8 mm. However, both phones belong to different price segments.
At $1,099.99, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a super expensive, niche device for people who prefer form over function. The Infinix Hot 60 Pro+, like its successor the Hot 50 Pro+, is bound to be an affordable mid-range phone with the specs to match. As such, the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ is likely to cost comfortably less than $500 despite boasting the Galaxy S25 Edge's headlining feature.
So, users who like the Galaxy S25 Edge’s ultra-thin design but aren’t willing to pay $1,000+ will now have an option in the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+. However, a cost-effective phone will come with several trade-offs to manage the price. For instance, Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ will likely offer less performance, an inferior screen, and worse cameras, to name a few things.
All in all, it is quite exciting to hear that Infinix is trying to bring the main feature of an $1,100 phone to the mass market. If the company can balance other specs, including using the new silicon-carbon batteries to pack a big battery in the Hot 60 Pro+, the phone can make for a solid, premium-feeling option for budget-conscious buyers.
