Impressive videos showcase Tesla's Model Y production in Germany
Less than two months ago, EV pioneer Tesla officially opened its latest state-of-the-art production facility for the Model Y, officially dubbed ‘Giga Berlin’. Although the plant in Grünheide near the German capital Berlin is struggling with a worker shortage and somewhat chaotic working conditions according to various reports, the carmaker appears to be extremely proud of the progress it has made in its brand-new European location.
Accordingly, Tesla has now published a series of short video clips on its official Twitter channel, which provide a glimpse of the paint chamber and other stunning machinery that is utilized for the Tesla Model Y production at Giga Berlin. For example, an automated system stamps 13 different body panels of the electric SUV into shape with 7,800 tons of force, and it produces a total of 16 parts per minute.
Another clip depicts the manufacturing of the remaining chassis parts and the subsequent welding process, which is handled by more than 600 robots. The aforementioned paint chamber, which CEO Elon Musk claims to be one of the most modern shop in the world, is also seen in action. Last but not least, a video from the general assembly line illustrates how more than 20 automated stations and over 1,000 shift workers equip the Tesla Model Y with its electric drivetrain, seats and other electrical components such as the HVAC system.
