Honor has confirmed the release date of its next smartphone, the Play5 5G. The device will have five cameras and will be available in multiple colours.

Honor may be readying to release a new flagship smartphone, but it has a midrange option up its sleeve, too. The company has confirmed that the device, called the Play5 5G, will debut on May 18 at 19:30 CST (11:30 UTC). Honor has not commented on if it plans to release the Play5 5G internationally, so it may only be planning to selling the device in China.

Additionally, Honor has teased the Play5 5G's design by publishing several marketing renders of it. So far, the company has revealed that it plans to sell the device in at least three colours, which you can see below. Honor has confirmed that the device will support 66 W wired charging too, although it is keeping on quiet on other specifications.

According to previous leaks, Honor is expected to equip the Play5 5G with a Dimensity 800U SoC and a 64 MP primary camera. Apparently, the company has chosen a 6.53-inch AMOLED display to sit atop a 7.46 mm thick chassis. Incidentally, it will be interesting to see if Google Mobile Services (GMS) returns to Honor smartphones. The company has not announced that this will be the case, but it may be possible thanks to its breakaway from Huawei.
