HP TouchPad with 7-inch screen reaches FCC

Teaser
The smaller TouchPad could be launching as the TouchPad Go with a faster processor

A smaller, 7-inch version of the current 9.7-inch TouchPad is now a reality and should be arriving soon in the U.S.

The 7-inch TouchPad, likely called the TouchPad Go, is expected to come in 16GB and 32GB models with 3G and HSPA+ connectivity options. The labellings also include the text “1.5G”, which could be indicating a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon CPU. Unfortunately, any other changes such as the screen resolution, stock Android version and other hardware changes are still unknown.

The smaller TouchPad was first hinted at earlier this June when HP filed 6 TouchPad trademarks with the US Patent Office, including the names TouchPad Go and TouchPad 7. Ten days later, a separate report claimed that HP placed an order for at least 400,000 tablets with the possibility of a 7-inch model coming this August. The rumors are lining up quite consistently with the arrival of the 7-inch TouchPad at the FCC. We expect to hear an official word from HP regarding its inevitable release within the coming weeks or months.
