If you're into power and prettiness, the HP EliteBook 8740w laptop is for you. With prebuilt models starting at £1,598, the EliteBook 8740w is a decently priced desktop replacement, and it's sexy to boot. Tool for Professionals. The air at the summit of notebooks is exceptionally thin. Only very few manufacturers accomplish positioning selected models there permanently. The American manufacturer, Hewlett Packard, pilots the Elitebook 8740w to this position. It includes latest quad core CPUs, high-performance graphics cards and last, but not least, a promise of best rates in many fields due to its Dreamcolor display.
In short, the HP EliteBook 8740w delivers serious power but it needs some work before it can reach "perfection."

HP: The Hewlett-Packard Company, founded 1935, commonly referred to as HP, is a technology corporation headquartered in California, United States. HP specializes in developing and manufacturing computing, storage, and networking hardware, software and services. Major product lines include personal computing devices, enterprise servers, related storage devices, as well as a diverse range of printers and other imaging products. Other product lines, including electronic test equipment and systems, medical electronic equipment, solid state components and instrumentation for chemical analysis. HP posted US $91.7 billion in annual revenue in 2006, making it the world's largest technology vendor in terms of sales. In 2007 the revenue was $104 billion, making HP the first IT company in history to report revenues exceeding $100 billion.
Up to 2015, the company was named Hewlett Packard Company. After a split, the computer range was renamed to HP Inc.
In the laptop segment, HP was the world's largest manufacturer from 2014 to 2016 with a market share of 20-21% from 2014 to 2016, but they only exceed Lenovo by a small margin as of recently. HP is not present in the smartphone sector (as of 2016).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
ATI FirePro M7820:
Professional graphics card based on the Mobility Radeon HD 5870 with GDDR5 graphics memory designed for CAD or DCC applications.
NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M:
Professional high-end workstation graphics card with certified drivers. Because of its 96 shader cores, the Quadro FX 2800M is similar to the GeForce 9800M GT but is produced in 55nm and features a higher core clock.
Intel Core i5:
The Core i5-520M has only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-640M) and clocks between 2.4-2.93 GHz (Turbo Mode). Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (GMA HD 3150) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
The Core i7-820QM is a high-end quad core CPU for laptops that clocks due to the Turbo Mode from 1.73-3.06 GHz. Therefore, the processor combines the advantages of fast single core CPUs and slow quad-core CPUs. Hyperthreading allows the simultaneous use of 8 Threads in parallel.

This weight is representative for typical laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal.
84.4%: This rating should be considered to be average. This is because the proportion of notebooks which have a higher rating is approximately equal to the proportion which have a lower rating.
