Common wisdom says that change comes from within, an axiom that HP has taken to heart with the tc4400 tablet PC. Physically identical to its predecessor, the tc4200, the tc4400's updated model number indicates only a refresh of the components inside its case: brand-new Core 2 Duo processors, an updated chipset, room for more RAM, and larger hard drive capacities. Fortunately, the company also dropped the tablet's price to $1,479 (our review unit included a few upgrades that brought the cost to a still-competitive $2,099).

HP Compaq TC4400 Tablet PC Convertible - Review
Source: Tablet PC Review
The HP TC4400 convertible Tablet PC is a refresh of the popular TC4200. The TC4400 exterior casing remains essentially the same as the TC4200. The HP TC4400 is a solid, business-class, full-featured Tablet PC convertible. I would recommend this model to consumers and business users looking for a portable, no-nonsense, secure Tablet PC Convertible. The TC4400, with its Core Duo CPU and solid build is powerful and built for the road.

HP's newest convertible, the Compaq tc4400, is out to prove that the age of the sluggish hybrid is over. Notebook functionality and performance now blend well with tablet PC functionality, so traveling power users can have the speed of a top-notch mainstream notebook and get tablet PC pen-style computing in one portable system. The tc4400 has the familiar flat black exterior and the tight, solid response of the Lenovo line.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 is an onboard integrated video chip and can be called a faster clocked GMA 900 (on Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset, which is available only starting with Core Duo/Solo). 2006 it is the most often used graphics solution and is classified in the weakest third of mobile graphics solutions. So it can only be used for elder games. For office applications and surfing it is without any doubt sufficient.

Intel Core 2 Duo: The Core 2 Duo is a successor of Core Duo and Core Solo with a longer pipeline and up to 20% speed increase without to spend more current. 64-Bit EM64T command upgrade and 2 or 4 MB L2 cache characterize this processor with its 291 millions transistors, which are finished in 65 nm.

T5600: The "T" variants of the Core 2 Duo are the standard versions in notebooks. They need less current than the "E", but more current than the "L" (low voltage) and "U" (ultra low voltage) variants.
T5600 is a T variant of medium speed.

12.1": This is the most common display format for subnotebooks and an average size for subnotebooks.
The advantage is, that the subnotebook can be small dimensioned and can be carried easily. Further the tiny display has the advantage, that it needs few current, which improves the battery runtime and in consequence the mobility. The disadvantage is that the reading of texts is very exhausting vor the eyes. High resolutions can hardly be used.
>> To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.1 kg: These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.

HP: Hewlett Packard is one of the biggest international manufacturers according market shares and reviewed models at the German- and English-speaking market. HP notebooks are often in top positions according price/value ratings.
