The iFi Go Pod Max digital audio converter (DAC) converts wired in-ear monitors (IEMs) to wireless ones and is worn around the ears. It comes with a pair of 0.78 mm 2-Pin and MMCX ear loops to fit most IEMs, eliminating troublesome wires that portable wireless DACs typically require. The iFi Go Pod Max has an MSRP of $599 and is available on Amazon.
The Go Pod Max utilizes the Qualcomm QCC5181 SoC to support the AAC, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, LDAC, LHDC/HWA, and SBC audio codecs over Bluetooth 5.4 connections with smartphones and other wireless audio sources. The DAC automatically switches between 16, 32, 64, and 300 ohms to match the impedance of connected IEMs.
The DAC includes JVCKenwood K2HD processing to upscale low-quality audio sources to 192 kHz, 24-bit output, while restoring lost harmonic overtones. The Go Pod Max has a dynamic range of 129 dB at 32 ohms across 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
The Go Pod Max has a runtime of up to seven hours, with a total of up to 35 hours when the charging case is used, according to iFi. The Pods take 1.5 hours to charge, while the case takes 2.0 hours to charge. The case uses UV light to sterilize the Pods between uses. The adapters weigh 0.86 oz. (24.5 g) and are IPX5-rated against minor water splashes.
