Reviews for the Gateway P-7805u

Gateway's P-7805u FX is probably one of the best overall values available on the market for someone looking for a gaming laptop computer system. It may not have the fastest processor but it has more than enough to play all the latest PC games on it thanks to the NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS graphics with 1GB of memory. Even though it is designed for those wanting toplay games on it, it can also be used for more general purpose computing as well. It would be nice to see Gateway address the battery design though.

NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS: Based on the desktop 9600 GT (G94 core), the 9800M GTS is produced either in 65 nm (512 MB) or 55 nm (1024 MB). The performance of the GTS is compareable to the GT version (due to the higher clock speed). The PureVideo HD engine supports the CPU in decoding HD videos.
These cards are compareable to enthusiasm desktop graphics cards, like the 9800M GT. The cards have a similar core, as their desktop counterparts, but are clocked lower and often have less shader processors. Modern games like Age of Conan, Race Driver Grid, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, or Gothic 3 should run fluently with high details (Crysis should run in medium to high details).

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.

17.0": Meanwhile the 17 inch display size is a more frequently offered standard format for desktop-replacements. The DTR-laptops can't be carried easily, need much energy but on the other side texts can be read easily and high resolutions are no problem. DTR mainly are intended for stationary usage on desks, where the weight and the energy need are unimportant.

4.4 kg: This laptop is heavy below average, compared with the average of notebooks. Therefore especially desktop replacements fit in this class of weight.
Gateway: Gateway, Incorporated. is a computer hardware company based in California which develops, manufactures, supports, and markets a wide range of personal computers, computer monitors, servers, and computer accessories. AOL acquired Gateway.net, the online component of Gateway Inc., in 1999. 2007, Acer completed its acquisition of Gateway for approximately US$710 million. The market share outside of the US market is rather low.
100%: This notebook model is regarded by the reviewers to be exceptionally good. There hardly exist laptops, which are rated so good. If this rating can be taken seriously, this is a clear recommendation for purchase.
