It seems that Garmin is preparing to bolster the Fenix 8 series with a successor to the Quatix 7 (curr. $489.99 on Amazon). To recap, the company released the Enduro 3, Fenix E and Fenix 8 simultaneously last August. More recently, it has introduced the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970, whose features are slowly trickling to the Fenix 8 and its counterparts.
Officially, Garmin has not said anything about launching the Quatix 8 yet. However, it turns out the upcoming release has been hiding in plain sight for a few days. For instance, an intrepid Redditor discovered what appeared to be the Quatix 8 during a release video for Garmin's latest marine stereo system. First seen at around 21 seconds, the unreleased smartwatch is seen throughout afterwards in several close-ups without direct reference.
Recent postings on Garmin's Mynewsdesk page confirm that the smartwatch teased in the Fusion Apollo RA800 Premium marine stereo launch video is in fact the Quatix 8. From these pictures, it seems that Garmin has visually distinguished the Quatix 8 from the Fenix 8 with a blue silicone watch band and the same red accents offered on the existing Quatix 7.
Moreover, the same images highlight that the Quatix 8 will offer 100 metres of water resistance or 40 metres when diving. Unsurprisingly, the upcoming smartwatch features titanium, a sapphire lens and what looks like Garmin's Elevate Gen 5 sensor platform. Although a launch date remains unknown for now, we would expect Garmin to officially introduce the Quatix 8 before the end of the week.
