Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone was initially rumored to be called the Galaxy G Fold. However, a recent report suggests that it may be named the Galaxy Z TriFold. Previously, a leaker tipped that the Galaxy Z TriFold will utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, but didn’t specify the exact model.
In the One UI 8 internal beta, a code string mentioning “siop_q7mq_sm8750” was discovered by Android Authority. The “q7mq” is rumored to be the internal codename for Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone, while “sm8750” is the model number for the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
This is a strong hint that the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. It is Qualcomm’s current top-end processor that has powered many flagship smartphones, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,099 on Amazon).
The Galaxy TriFold is rumored to feature a 10-inch inner screen. For reference, the Huawei Mate XT, the first tri-fold smartphone on the market, has a similarly sized 10.2-inch inner screen. Furthermore, the Galaxy TriFold is expected to use a camera setup similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to be released in Q4 2025. It may not see wide availability, with a possible release limited to the Korean and Chinese markets. The expected price is said to be KRW 4 million in Korea, equivalent to approximately 2,880 USD. For now, all this information is unconfirmed and hence must be taken with a pinch of salt.
