Apple's decision to integrate OpenAI's ChatGPT into its software may have set off a chain reaction in the tech world. Samsung-who previously relied on Google for its AI needs-has now partnered up with another Silicon Valley-based behemoth: Perplexity.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports the Galaxy S26 will come preloaded with the Perplexity app and use its assistant as a default option. Additionally, its search assistant will be baked into Samsung's browser. That could very well trickle down into some Galaxy AI features. And it doesn't end there, the two want to make an "AI-infused operating system" as well.
Better yet, Samsung's often forgotten virtual assistant Bixby could get a new lease of life thanks to Perplexity. Despite coming with come commendable features like Bixby Routines, the fledgling tool didn't make much of a splash, and it would be nice to see what its Perplexity-powered version can do.
But, the integration between OneUI and Perplexity is expected to be announced prior to the Galaxy S26 launch. Now that the information is out there, Samsung might hint at it this July-August when it shows off the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
