With its exotic dinosaur setting, this survival shooter is often described as a mix of Far Cry and Jurassic Park. Anyone interested in FEROCIOUS can even take a look for free as part of the current playtest.

FEROCIOUS is an exciting new adventure for fans of first-person shooters and survival gameplay. Instead of a post-apocalyptic backdrop, it transports players to a lush, dinosaur-filled island. After a shipwreck, you’re left to explore a mysterious land crawling with deadly creatures, hostile mercenaries and ancient ruins – delivering a mix of Far Cry action and Jurassic Park atmosphere.

The game plays like a classic open-world shooter, combining fast-paced gunfights with intense encounters against deadly dinosaurs, mechas and other threats. Players can gather resources to craft weapons and gear, adding a survival element to the experience. A standout feature of FEROCIOUS is the ability to control dinosaurs in certain situations, opening up new routes or giving you a powerful edge in battle.

Community voices concerns

Early reactions to the ongoing FEROCIOUS playtest on Reddit are mixed, with a noticeable tilt toward the negative. While the atmosphere, graphics and gunplay receive some praise, most comments focus on shortcomings. Players report technical problems, awkward UI, rough animations and unfinished mechanics, which make the game feel unpolished – even for a test version. Despite this, some see potential in its fresh setting and the option to interact with dinosaurs. The game’s surprisingly smooth performance on weaker systems is also seen as a plus.

Playtest available for free

A release date for FEROCIOUS has yet to be announced, with developer OMYOG confirming that the dinosaur survival shooter is still in development. Following several closed tests, the first open playtest is now live. Access can be requested through the game’s Steam page, and this time, all interested players are expected to get in. Since the duration of the test remains unclear, anyone curious should sign up soon.
