The Spot+ Scrub Ai robot vacuum was just showcased at the Dyson Unveiled event in IFA Berlin, alongside the latest range of products, including the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene floor cleaner and the PencilVac. While it's the second robot vacuum from the company in recent years (after the Dyson 360 Vis Nav from 2023), it is the first to include a mopping function. True to form, Dyson has brought some innovative and useful features to this device that you won't find among the competition.
AI stain detection and adaptive cleaning
Using a green LED and an AI-powered camera, the Spot+Scrub analyses the stain before going over it to estimate how many passes it would take to clean it. After every pass, it checks visually if the stain has been cleaned and continues for up to 15 passes until it's completely gone. In other words, it cleans stains exactly the way that a human naturally would.
The AI visual system also allows it to recognise up to 200 household objects that might be obstacles in its path, so it can navigate and clean around them. It also ramps up the power by four times when cleaning carpets versus hard floors.
Self cleaning wet roller
This one will surely please people who hate it when a robovac ends up streaking the floor with its dirty wet mops. The Spot+Scrub uses a "12-point hydration system" that washes the roller with fresh water with every rotation, so you essentially have a clean roller mopping your floor at all times.
Dyson also says the roller mechanism "automatically extends" (presumably laterally) by 1.6 inches, allowing it to reach edges and corners that collect more dust but are otherwise tricky to clean.
Cyclonic dock
A robovac with advanced features like these deserves more than a basic charging dock, and on that Dyson delivers. The dock features its cyclonic technology to eliminate the need for bags, using centrifugal forces to separate the dust. It not only empties the dust but also refills the robot's water tank and washes and dries the wet scrubber.
You can, of course, control this device from the MyDyson mobile app. A price has not been mentioned yet but we know it won't exactly be in the 'affordable' category. For some reference, the 360 Vis Nav was launched two years ago at $1200, and was widely panned for being overpriced but not too rich in features compared to the competition. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is now down to $499 on Amazon.
