Garmin has just released a trio of wearables globally. Nonetheless, a well-informed source has shared initial details about a new Garmin aimed to take on the Whoop 5.0. Referred to as the Garmin Sleep Band for now, the source has even provided a release window for the device, too.

Garmin has just released the Forerunner 570 (curr. $549.00 on Amazon) alongside the more expensive Forerunner 970 and the dedicated HRM 600 heart rate monitor. For reference, while Garmin has fleshed out its wearable division with more smartwatches in recent years, it occasionally dips its toes into other product lines.

To that end, the5krunner reports that the company is about to embark on a new market pioneered by a rival. Specifically, the website has learned that Garmin is preparing to release an alternative to Whoop wearables by doing away with a display altogether and relying on gestures and LEDs instead. For the time being, the5krunner refers to the wearable as the Garmin Sleep Band. However, this does not appear to be a final name.

Nonetheless, the website states that Garmin's next wearable will maximise comfort while sleeping via an adjustable strap and a brand-new clasp design. On top of that, the so-called Sleep Band is slated to monitor sleep phases and use collected data to wake people via a vibration motor as they enter a lighter sleep without disturbing others. Apparently, Garmin will recommend wearing the Sleep Band on your upper arm rather than your wrist to capture the most accurate data. Precise details are unknown for now; the5krunner insists that the device will officially debut 'within approximately two months' or by August at the latest.
