Cybertruck off-road tests demo climbing and descent on steep rough terrain
Tesla is positioning its newly released Cybertruck electric pickup not only as a proper workhorse able to fit plywood in its truck bed and power tools from there, but also as an adventurous off-road vehicle. The jack of all trades comes with a 12-inch sir suspension lift and several off-road modes, including Baja, Wade, and Overland, which can pressurize the battery with the air tank, or lift the truck accordingly.
In any case, during the pre-release Cybertruck off-road tests at the Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area, particularly at the Stair Steps climb, there were some performance doubts, so any further challenges of the retail version would come greatly appreciated.
After all, the 12-inch (30 cm) travel and 17.4 inches (44 cm) ground clearance with no hanging diff, or the 35 degree approach and 28 degree departure angles are pretty respectable numbers for any truck, not to mention the adaptive dampening that can compensate in a blink.
One such demo has just been filmed, and the Cybertruck passed a tough off-road test with steep hill climbing and descent with aplomb. As can be seen in the videos below, at one point it is three-wheeling down the dusty rock-covered hill, and those are often steeper than they seem in videos.
In any case, Elon Musk's Blade Runner reference when it comes to the Cybertruck seems rather fitting for the Mars-like landscape in the off-road tests here.
