The Asus X series is created with beauty and functionality in mind. Asus places the classic, timeless design tag on the X550DP variant with its elegant spin-line finish, while making it 5 percent thinner than the previous X series model. The design also incorporates the IceCool technology that keeps the palm rest cool when in use. Asus X550DP comes with a glossy 15.6 inch HD display and is powered by an AMD APU A8-5550M quad-core processor clocked at 2.1 GHz, AMD Radeon HD 8550G + Radeon HD 8670M Dual Graphics with 2GB DDR3 VRAM with up to 8 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz RAM.

The storage size varies depending on the model and can go up to 1TB with Windows 8 as its operating system. The Asus X550DP is equipped with a Super-Multi DVD drive, HD webcam, card reader and all common interfaces found on most modern notebooks. The entire setup is powered by a 4-cell 3000 mAh battery and weighs at 2.26 kg with battery included.

The notebook has a true instant on 2 second resume from sleep mode and high quality sound with SonicMaster technology. It also prides on the precision touchpad and cloud storage integration making it enticing for the average consumer.

AMD Radeon HD 8550G + HD 8670M Dual Graphics: Dual Graphics (asymmetrical CrossFire) combination of a dedicated Radeon HD 8670M  and a 8550G processor graphics card (in the processor core of the A-Series). Only in some cases faster than the dedicated GPU alone and furthermore it sometimes suffers from micro stuttering.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

15.6": 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.3 kg: These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
