The Bluetooth SIG has revealed that ASUS is on the verge of releasing another VivoWatch. The VivoWatch 5 will support LTE and should be the successor to the VivoWatch SP.

It seems that ASUS is about to announce a new smartwatch. The company has been selling the VivoWatch SP for over two years, so it is no surprise that it is preparing to release a new model. According to the Bluetooth SIG, ASUS has settled on the VivoWatch 5 for a name, despite there being no VivoWatch 4.

The Bluetooth SIG entry does not reveal much about the smartwatch, but it does confirm that the VivoWatch 5 supports LTE.  Presumably, ASUS will unveil a Wi-Fi only model simultaneously too; just selling an LTE model would be an unusual move.

Currently, ASUS also sells the VivoWatch BP, which is now three years old. Both it and the VivoWatch SP contain ECG, GPS, and PPG heart rate sensors, so they are not hopelessly outdated features-wise. Correspondingly, the VivoWatch 5 should offer comparable health-tracking features, along with a few others like more exercise modes.

Unfortunately, it is unclear when ASUS will launch the VivoWatch 5 or VivoWatch 5 LTE. The latter's appearance on the Bluetooth SIG suggests that the company is close to making an announcement, so the pair could arrive before the end of the year.
