AMD has officially unveiled its second Zen 4-based X3D CPU. While the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is relatively inexpensive at $299, it can only be purchased in the US from Micro Center.

Previous leaks predicted AMD would launch the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D sometime in early September. They were wrong, and for once, it isn't a bad thing because the processor has been stealthily launched. However, like the last-gen Ryzen 5 5600X3D it is a Micro Center exclusive (H/T Tom's Hardware). Whether or not it lands on global markets remains to be seen, but it probably won't.

You can buy the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D a-la-carte for $299. If you're in the market for a motherboard and RAM, Micro Center's bundle will get you an Asus TUG Gaming B650 motherboard, CPU and 32 GB of DDR5-6000 RAM for $499. Combine that with a GeForce RTX 4070 Super/Radeon RX 7800 XT, and you have a potent 1080p/1440p gaming rig that'll be relevant for a few years.

As far as specs are concerned, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is essentially a Ryzen 5 7600X with 92 MB of 3D V-cache. Core/thread count, base/boost clocks and TDP is identical across both SKUs. For now, it should be the second-best gaming CPU you can buy after the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Of course, the situation will change once AMD unveils its Zen 5-based X3D SKUs later this year, but the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is a no-brainer if you're looking for new hardware now.
