Xiaomi said to launch compact smartwatch with 3,000-nit OLED display globally soon

While the Xiaomi Watch S5 ($194 on Amazon) with a case diameter of 46 millimeters is already available in the U.S. and in Europe, the smaller 41-millimeter version has so far only been offered in China. According to the latest information from SvetAndroida Xiaomi is now planning a European launch of the compact smartwatch, alongside the international launch of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series.
The Xiaomi Watch S5 41 mm is expected to cost around €240 ($269), making it even more expensive than the larger 46-millimeter model. In return, the watch is not only significantly more compact, but at 9.9 millimeters thick, this model is also almost a millimeter thinner. A 590 mAh battery is expected to give the smartwatch a battery life of eight to 14 days, depending on usage.
Xiaomi uses a round 1.32-inch OLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and an impressive brightness of 3,000 nits. In addition to heart rate and SpO2 sensors, the smartwatch also has a skin temperature sensor, which is used for sleep, stress, and cycle tracking, among other things. Like its larger sibling, the Xiaomi Watch S5 41 mm is expected to feature an integrated GPS module and an NFC chip for contactless payments.
The stainless steel case, which is water-resistant to 5 ATM, will reportedly be available in either silver or black, with the included sports strap coming in blue or black depending on the variant. The watch supports Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6. The Xiaomi Watch S series runs HyperOS rather than Wear OS, offering a smaller selection of apps but also achieving longer battery life.
