Windows 10 could arrive on USB flash drives

Optical drives are almost history now and, although not confirmed yet by Microsoft, the release of USB flash Windows 10 installation media looks like a natural move. Right now, Microsoft Windows can be purchased on DVD or as downloadable ISO. If the latest rumors turn out to be true, a Windows USB flash drive will be added to the list at the end of next month.

According to information published by German website WinFuture, Microsoft Windows 10 Home on USB flash drive will sell for $144.23 USD while the Professional version will cost $238.01 USD. In both cases, the USB drive includes the 32- and 64-bit version of the operating system so that the user can choose the one needed during installation. The same source also mentions that different languages will be available on USB drive media.

Last week, US journalist Paul Thurrot mentioned Windows 10 on USB flash drives last week, and it appears that Microsoft Germany also confirmed this fact in an email sent to WinFuture. We only need to wait and see an official press release from Microsoft about this, so stay tuned. The Redmond giant will surely reveal the details before Windows 10 comes out on July 29.
