Will Microsoft Office 15 support Tablets?

Teaser
Microsoft puts the Office 15 to a Technical Preview to a group of customers, which is also mentioned by its vice president as the most ambitious undertaking yet

Microsoft shows its Microsoft Office 15 for the first time on its Technical preview phase. During this preview, a selected group of customers will provide a feedback on the software. However, they are bound not to disclose anything according to an agreement.

So this allows Microsoft to test the software without any leak of its features or other details in public. The whole event is code named as Microsoft Office 15 but it seems like it will most probably become Office 2012 or Office 2013 which is scheduled to be released by this summer. However, no date has been declared yet.

Till now nothing much is known about this version of the Microsoft office but P J Hough, Vice President of development for Office has mentioned in a blog post that this is the most ambitious undertaking yet for the Office Division.

He also added that with Office 15, they will simultaneously update their cloud services, servers, and mobile and PC clients for office, Office 365, Exchange SharePoint, Lync, Project, and Visio. Office 15 will help the users to work, collaborate and communicate smarter and faster than ever before.

It is also expected to have some enhancement for the Windows 8 platform but nothing is revealed about support and neither on its support on ARM devices. There may also be another issue for the tablets as the Windows 8 may get launched in the second half of 2012 but the office 15 may get released only later this year or early next by judging from the technical preview dates, so they may not be equipped with your latest Windows 8 tablet.

It can even be speculated that Microsoft is not developing any separate version for the tablets or any kind of light, Metro-style version of the mobile office included in the Windows Phones.
