Expected to launch alongside the regular Vivo X20 (Xplay7) on September 21, Vivo has teased a special edition variant of the X20 dubbed the Mars Edition. The new model looks as though it will be made available with a special black small suitcase equipped with some additional items, one of which looks like an external battery pack.
Other than teasing the images, Vivo hasn’t hinted at what if any special changes have been made to the X20 Mars Edition in addition to its bespoke design theme. The standard X20 is powered by a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC matched with 6 GB RAM. Its 5.8-inch AMOLED edge-to-edge display has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels that is good for a pixel density of 416ppi. The device is notable for packing a particularly high-resolution dual-rear and front combination rated at 24 MP each. Standard storage comes in at 64 GB.
It can be the case that special edition models like the X20 Mars Edition can also have some unique hardware features in addition to simply a new paint job. To this extent, don’t be surprised if it turns out that the X20 Mars Edition packs additional RAM up to 8 GB and more storage at up to 128 GB. A Snapdragon 835 chip upgrade may not be out of the question either. More will be known when it launches officially in the next couple of weeks.
