Vivo X9s Plus spotted at TENAA for certification
The X9s Plus and its dual front-facing cameras could be one of the first smartphones to ship with the Snapdragon 660 SoC.

While both Vivo and Oppo operate under the BBK Electronics Corporation, Oppo has so far been the more popular brand worldwide in terms of sales. Nonetheless, the Vivo brand is still going strong with at least one more smartphone model coming this year according to recent TENAA documents.

The Vivo X9s Plus is expected to be an upgrade to last year's X9 Plus with the following core specifications:

  • 5.85-inch FHD touchscreen
  • 1.95 GHz octa-core SoC (potentially a Snapdragon 660)
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 64 GB internal storage
  • 3920 mAh internal battery
  • Android 7.1.1 Nougat
  • 162.6 x 78..8 x 7.25 mm

In comparison, the original X9 carries a 5.5-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 625 SoC, smaller 3050 mAh battery, and is just slightly thinner at 7 mm. It does, however, carry an S-AMOLED panel and it will be interesting to see if the X9s Plus will follow suit.

Another notable feature of the X9 "Selfie" family is its dual front-facing cameras, which is unusual for a smartphone. In this case, the X9s Plus is expected to have 20 MP and 5 MP front cameras and only a single 16 MP rear camera. As such, the marketing for the device will likely focus on the extensive selfie functions that the model will likely carry.
