It’s a toss between this one and the UMi Plus E. We’d still prefer the latter because of the storage capacity and RAM. Shame about the lack of NFC but at least it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

The UMI Z is an excellent-value Android phone with a large battery, a decent screen, the most powerful MediaTek processor you can get and a very good selfie camera. Unfortunately the primary camera doesn't quite live up, but it's otherwise difficult to fault. With full UK 4G connectivity it's a great buy.

The UMIDIGI Z Pro offers fantastic value at just over £200. It has a large battery, a decent screen and powerful performance. The dual-camera doesn't offer quite the relief we were hoping for following poor performance from the UMI Z, but this is still a great phone.

It’s not as fast as its predecessors, with which it shares the same but still just as good-looking design, but we do like the extra battery power and storage space, and the improved cameras of the Z1. We’re also pretty keen on the price - at £139 the UMIDIGI Z1 is a very impressive budget phone.

UMI Z1 Pro
UMI claims that the Z1 Pro is the world's thinnest flagship killer. According to them, the device is 6.95 mm thin. But some users claim on-line that it is more than that at around 8 mm thick. You already have a warning flag, right? This is why i have mixed feelings about this device. Its price tag is close to 300$ and all online reviews give mixed impressions. There are youtube videos which suggests not to buy the device, but then there are online review sites strongly recommending a purchase. I am more close to not buying the device. The reason for my advice is that the software is buggy according to most of the reviews. Of course it is software and can be fixed, but after doing a research about the experience of UMI owners, they all say to stay away from UMI. Of course general impression does not mean you will have a bad experience, but it should be an indicator, a warning sign. When you try to understand why people are complaining this much, it actually becomes obvious why you should skip this device. First of all, let's start with the good parts. The Metallic case looks good, it has a nice AMOLED screen, a 4000 mAh battery, 6 GB of RAM, a 64 GB Samsung disk and MediaTek 6757 SoC. The hardware looks promising. But the utilization is questionable. The screen lacks brightness, the speakers lack bass, the fingerprint sensor is slow, the general user experience is okay but laggy. This should not be how you would want to spend your money. The biggest complain is about the cameras. There is a dual setup consisting of a 13 MP and a 5 MP sensor at the rear side and a 5 MP front camera. Nevertheless, the pictures lack contrast and depth. It is like they are taken with low resolution cameras. In short, they do not satisfy at all. After all this reading, research, going through different resources of information, I think of a reason to buy this device. But unfortunately can not find one. There are better and also cheaper alternatives like the Vernee Mars Pro or maybe the Xiaomi Mi6. You can even go for the Asus Zenfone series. If you can spend slightly more money, you can get better devices from Huawei or HTC. If you still want to buy this device, just be aware that the camera will disappoint you. Other than that you may not have any issues for day to day usage. The only criticism I am trying to bring up here is that there are better devices that you can buy for the price of this phone. 76.93%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
