Toshiba NB550D not to be sold in the US

Teaser
The Ontario powered netbook will not be sold inside the United States

When Toshiba announced the NB550D a few weeks ago, consumers patiently awaited the AMD Fusion “Ontario” Netbook. However, Toshiba has apparently decided that the NB550D would not be sold inside the US, and would only be available in Australia and Europe at this time.

While this move may appear puzzling at first, it does allow Toshiba to continue production and sales of its Intel Atom netbook line within the US for the time being. And as always Toshiba may reverse their decision when they feel the time is right.

The NB550D sports the new AMD Fusion Ontario APU, an AMD HD 6250 GPU, 1GB RAM and 250GB of storage. While the specs are tantalizing for a netbook, customers in the US are out of luck. However, if you’re eager to try out the Ontario APU, you can either wait for Acer’s Aspire One (available for pre-order on Amazon) or find a way to purchase the NB550D abroad. After all that’s what international shipping is for, right?
