T-Mobile to offer tablet rentals to Angels fans

Teaser
LG G-Slate or Samsung Galaxy Tab can soon be rented from T-Mobile for $10 a game

A day at the ballpark isn’t generally associated with heavy tablet use, but that could be set to change soon enough. And while having the youngest player in the majors is probably exciting enough for most Angels fans, T-Mobile seems to think they've got something extra for those that aren't as easily entertained by watching the game of baseball.

In a press release today, T-Mobile announced that they have teamed up with the Los Angeles Angels in providing Android tablet rentals to fans heading out to Angels Stadium. For the price of $10 per game the company will be renting out either LG’s G-Slate or Samsung’s Galaxy Tab to customers along with some extra goodies.

In addition to the normal Android experience, the tablets will also include:

  • Free digital game-day program (usually a $3 value)
  • Access to Zinio's Android magazine app, which includes over 4,500 magazines including ESPN
  • Access to T-Mobile's 4G network, although no data limit has been specified so far
  • Access to T-Mobile TV and its "Select" package (limited to G-Slate rentals)

Although we’re at a loss as to why someone would head to the ballpark and choose to watch TV shows over the actual game, there’s no denying that the Angels are a valuable marketing tool for T-Mobile’s tablets. In any case, folks out there searching for their technology fix should look out for a T-Mobile booth next to the nachos stand in the near future.
