StarTech announces Triple-Video and dual-laptop docking stations
StarTech has announced two new entries to its already extensive line-up of high-end docking stations. This time, however, these are a bit different than your standard dock.
First, the Triple-Video dock provides three dedicated video-out ports (2x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI), one of which will support 4K video resolution. However, using a combination of two or all of the video ports will mean a reduction in resolution for one or two of the monitors. In other words, users will not be able to power 3x 4K displays at once. Other connections include 5x USB 3.0, RJ-45, and 3x 3.5 mm audio.
The second docking station is designed as a docking bridge between two different notebooks. The notebooks can share external displays without disconnecting or reconnecting video cables via a convenient switch on the dock itself. Additionally, the dock supports direct files transfers at USB 3.0 speeds. For users who constantly fumble around two computers, this may be the perfect solution.
The Triple-Video and Docking Station for Two are now available for $263 each. Both have been designed to work with Windows and Mac OS via an available USB 3.0 port.
