The 16 GB WiFi-only variant of the 10.1-inch slate can be purchased for $499.99, while the 32 GB one costs $100 more.

Back in February at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Sony launched the Xperia Z2 Android tablet and the slate quickly became available in a few markets, including the UK. Unfortunately the US and Canada had to wait until now. Starting this week, the next-gen tablet can be finally pre-ordered by North American customers starting at $499 USD.

The 16 GB WiFi version of the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet will arrive on May 4 and can be already pre-ordered for $499 USD, while the 32 GB variant costs $599 USD. Unfortunately, there is no 4G LTE edition available for now, but the FCC listing of the slate recently revealed a variant with 4G LTE connectivity for AT&T, so this major US carrier could introduce it soon.

The Sony Xperia Z2 features a 10.1-inch Full HD Triluminous display, a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3 GB of memory, as well as Sony's own Front Surround dynamic audio, noise canceling and a Wireless Controller that allows users to control the tablet using a PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 controller.

While Sony Canada's store already has the slate listed, the US store does not have the product page up yet but SlashGear reports that the device "will be hitting online outlets in the United States this week." We will get back to this topic as soon as the 4G LTE variant becomes available for the US market, so stay tuned.
