This award-winning family of external storage solutions now comes with 200 GB of OneDrive storage and consists of models packing up to 4 TB capacity.

Seagate announced earlier this week a refresh of the award-winning Backup Plus family of devices, which now includes a 4 TB model and 200 GB of OneDrive cloud storage. All Seagate Backup Plus external drives also come with Lyve's photo and video app and the Seagate Dashboard software for easy PC backup.

According to IDC storage systems research analyst Jingwen Li, "With features such as OneDrive cloud storage, Lyve app, and the new 4TB capacity point, Seagate Backup Plus family addresses the growing needs for data storage and backup with flexible data access and simple data management in the personal storage market."

The USB 3.0-powered, 20.5 mm-thin 4 TB Seagate Backup Plus drive will hit the market in mid-July for a MSRP of $239.99 USD. Additional models already available on the market include the 500 GB Seagate Backup Plus Slim ($79.99 USD) and the Seagate Backup Plus Desktop drive (2 TB for $119.99 USD and 8 TB for $359.99 USD). The new OneDrive offer is available upon product registration while the Lyve management app can be freely downloaded from iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
