A leak purports to show Samsung may be adding Continuum-like functionality to the Galaxy S8. If true, this signals a new trend for the mobile market.

Steve Litchfield of All About Windows Phone has revealed one of the most tantalizing rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S8 to date: Samsung may be working on creating a sort of desktop mode for their phones, complete with multi-tasking, keyboard and mouse, and external monitor support. The leak comes from an alleged upcoming S8 presentation slide, courtesy of a trusted source.

The slide (pictured right) is titled "Samsung Desktop Experience" and shows a mock-up workspace resembling Remix OS (a productivity-focused variant of Android). The diagram shows a Samsung handset connected to the monitor via what would be a USB Type-C cable, as well as (presumably bluetooth) keyboard and mouse. If the leak is real, it means that Samsung is following Microsoft's direction of an ultimate mobile device that does it all. If this is the direction of the mobile market, other companies—notably Apple—may be compelled to follow suit.
