One of the first Ivy Bridge-equipped notebooks from Samsung is already up for pre-order on Samsung’s official website.
Called NP700G7C, this 17.3-inch Series 7 gaming notebook will ship with the high-end quad-core 2.3GHz Core i7-3610QM, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX 675M GPU, 1080p display, dual 1TB HDDs, backlit keyboard, 4 speakers and an integrated 8GB SSD reserved for system cache. Samsung promises up to 45 percent faster boot up times with their ExpressCache technology. There is no mention of 3D compatibility, which would have rounded up the already impressive specs list quite nicely. A similar notebook to this Series 7 was teased by Samsung at CES just one month ago.
Connectivity options include wireless-n, WiDi, Bluetooth 4.0, gigabit Ethernet, multi-card reader, HDMI, Blu-Ray drive, DisplayPort and 2x USB 3.0. Oddly enough, while a VGA-out port is listed as part of the specs, the actual port doesn’t appear in any screenshots of the Samsung notebook.
Despite the powerful hardware, the actual form factor of the notebook is not as thick as one would imagine. While still large, the Samsung is 1.96-inches (40.64mm) at its thickest point but tapers down to 1.29-inches (32.76mm) at its front. Still, the notebook will be quite dense at a substantial 8.39 pounds (3.8kg).
Expect this notebook to ship within the next few months or right around the launch of the Intel Ivy Bridge chipset. The NP700G7C currently sits at a hefty $1699 pre-order price tag. Check the source for the official gallery of the rather sleek notebook.
