Qualcomm's 30FPS Mirasol display appears at CES

Qualcomm’s Mirasol display technology has been revolutionary and has found quite a good lot of takers. Now on show at the CES, Qualcomm has the second generation of the Mirasol display as a prototype. The display does 30 frames per second as was promised by the maker before and is a vast improvement over the 15 FPS done by the first and current generation model, thus making it better to watch videos and animations.

Although the second gen model is very power efficient and has good visibility even under broad daylight, it doesn’t come without the usual Mirasol limitation-faded colors. Nonetheless, the new display prototype was found to be light by Electronista and they say upgrading to this display shouldn’t be a hassle. Mirasol based devices like e-readers and tablet hybrids are expected early this year although there is no official word on it.
