Prestigio to release the 9.7-inch MultiPad Pro tablet in April 2012
The Cyprus-based tech manufacturer Prestigio is reportedly in the processes of releasing a 9.7-inch tablet PC, dubbed MultiPad Pro. The device will run an Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and will become available to customers in Europe in April of this year with a suggested retail price of €199 (approximately $260).
According to a report from Notebook Italia, the maker was among the exhibitors at the 2012 CeBIT show in Hannover, where it demonstrated the above mentioned slate. Apparently, the MultiPad Pro will be powered by an ARM Cortex A8 processor that incorporates one core clocked at 1GHz and the Mali-400 video card for accelerating 3D graphics. In addition, the tablet sports an In-Plane Switching (the IPS technology delivers improved viewing angles) multitouch-enabled display with LED backlighting.
The MultiPad Pro also houses a front-facing 0.3MP web camera for video calls (no camera on the back), 1GB of internal RAM and 8GB of flash storage, which is supposedly further expandable by up to 32GB through the built-in microSD memory card slot. Connectivity-wise, Prestigio’s forthcoming slate offers an “advanced” Wireless LAN adapter, one micro-USB port and an HDMI output.
Upon purchase, customers will presumably get a complimentary “stylish” leather pouch for carrying the tablet around. Furthermore, the company claims that all MultiPad Pro users will have access to the Android Market (aka Google Play).
