Origin offers free Ivy Bridge upgrade on previously ordered models

Notebooks ordered before Ivy Bridge launch will be upgraded for no additional cost

It’s always a bummer when your shiny new gadget gets pushed to the side thanks to new hardware, and it’s even worse when you haven't even received your order. Thankfully, Origin PC appears well aware of this fact, and is doing what it can to help customers out.

According to the folks over at Hot Hardware, Origin PC informed them that they will be “giving a free upgrade to Ivy Bridge processors on all desktop and laptop orders that were ordered prior to Ivy Bridge launch”. Sadly, this will likely only apply to systems that have yet to leave the company’s warehouse, but it is a nice gesture by the company, nonetheless.

As it stands, Origin is currently offering Intel’s Ivy Bridge processors within their EON lineup of gaming notebooks. The EON11-S, 15-S and 17-S range from 11” to 17.3”, with the 15-S and 17-S offering Full HD resolutions and up to GTX 675M GPUs (SLI on the 17-S). On the other hand, the 11-S is stuck with a standard resolution display, and only a GeForce GT650M, but remains the strongest 11” laptop out there thanks to the discontinuation of Alienware’s M11x.

The notebooks start at $999 for the 11-S, $1,561 for the 15-S, and $2,541 for the 17-S. All models can currently be ordered and configured from the Origin online store.
