New Renault Megane E-Tech arrives with 307 miles of range and 24-minute charging
The new model-year Renault Megane E-Tech Electric has arrived. Buyers get a new 67 kWh LFP battery that gives the 215 hp compact car up to 307 miles of range. When the battery runs low, it can charge from 15 to 80 percent in about 24 minutes. The EV originally debuted in 2022. Renault has now cut back the previous range of configurations to a much simpler lineup as it faces growing competition in the EV market.
The new LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery powers a 160 kW motor at the front axle, which produces 221 lb-ft of torque. Renault quotes a maximum WLTP range of exactly 307 miles. According to the company, DC fast charging from 15 to 80% SoC takes around 24 minutes, a 25 percent improvement over the previous model. Every Megane E-Tech comes standard with a heat pump, battery preconditioning to improve charging performance and a bidirectional 11 kW AC onboard charger. A more powerful 22 kW onboard charger is available at extra cost. Regenerative braking with steering wheel paddles and one-pedal drive are also standard.
The updated Megane E-Tech starts at about €34,990 for the Techno trim, while the Esprit Alpine costs €37,990; both include 19% VAT. Renault has also streamlined the lineup: only the battery and powertrain combination described above and these two trims will be available. The Techno includes leatherette dashboard accents, a heated steering wheel, an EV route planner, a digital rearview camera and new 19-inch alloy wheels. Power-adjustable seats and a driver assistance package with augmented vision features are optional. Renault continues to list cargo capacity at 15.5 cubic feet.
The higher-end Esprit Alpine has distinctive 20-inch alloy wheels and Alpine design details. Inside, it adds power-adjustable massaging seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system and additional driver assistance features, including Active Driver Assist, a 360-degree camera and Easy Park Assist. Renault has expanded the exterior color range to seven choices, including the new Satin Slate Blue. Both trims feature the OpenR link infotainment system with a 12-inch screen and built-in Google services. A future update is expected to add the Gemini AI assistant alongside Google Maps and the Play Store. A new ventilated Qi2 wireless charging pad for smartphones completes the technology updates.
