Though notable for its lineup of high-end gaming notebooks, MSI has been showcasing its Slider S20 concept in a number of trade shows earlier last year, including Computex 2012. Through a press releases issued earlier this week, the manufacturer will finally be ready to launch the convertible Ultrabook before the end of this quarter.
The S20 will pack some heavy specs including a full 1080p display, Core i5 CPU, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 128 GB SSD, touchscreen capabilities, and a slide-out keyboard for a not-so-heavy final weight of 2.2 pounds (1 kg). Interestingly enough, there is no mention of the screen size of the notebook, though it is likely to be 11.6-inches or similar. If so, the S20 could make for a great alternative to the successful Asus Zenbook Prime UX21A, another superthin 11.6-inch full HD Ultrabook currently in the market.
Expect the Slider S20 to be available within the next few months for a launch price of $1199. Whereas only conceptual models were shown at previous shows, the retail model will make its first public reveal next week at Vegas.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s. When I'm not managing day-to-day activities and US review articles on Notebookcheck, you can catch me following the eSports scene and the latest gaming news.
