90% Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon Review

When I was looking up pricing for this laptop it actually turns out it is “temporally unavailable” on the Lenovo website. I am not sure if this is due to a chip shortage or what, but the last available price I was able to find for this specific unit was $949, which I feel is a great price! If AMD is going to continue to offer affordable and competitive mobile CPU solutions we are going to see some really great laptops in the future. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon a 9 out of 10 score.

We've stated that Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Dell's XPS 13 OLED are the two best laptops in the world. Its subpar keyboard keeps the IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon from joining them, but it's not far behind—getting a slightly larger OLED screen and a handy dongle with HDMI and USB-A ports for $300 less than a comparably equipped Dell is surely tempting. In short, the Carbon cross-breeding (and cross-branding) experiment, from ThinkPad over to IdeaPad, looks like a success out of the gate. The Slim 7 Carbon deserves a spot near the top of the short lists of shoppers hunting for a hot-value ultraportable.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon Review Philippines: Light and Fast
Source: Unbox English
Our review of the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon shows that Lenovo has an ace up its sleeve in offering a lightweight-yet-powerful ultrabook in the Philippines. The Yoga Slim 7 Carbon is reasonably priced especially if you factor in its premium build and 90hz QHD+ OLED display. Save for the lack of Thunderbolt ports, the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon is a great ultrabook to consider if you are looking for something that balances both being lightweight and powerful enough for most tasks.

90% Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon (2021) review: Perfect if you don't need Thunderbolt ports
Source: Hardware Zone English
Last year’s Yoga Slim 7i Carbon won our Tech Awards because of its unassailable blend of performance, portability, and price. And this year’s model is equally good because it has these same qualities. Performance has been improved but at no cost to portability, and it even gets an excellent OLED display. Perhaps the most incredible thing of all is that it is priced so competitively. For many readers, I think this can be their perfect notebook. But before you rush to click on the buy button, there’s at least one thing to consider. The Yoga Slim 7 Carbon’s biggest downfall is arguably its lack of Thunderbolt support. Granted, not everyone uses Thunderbolt accessories but it’s nice to have because it opens up a world of possibilities such as crazy-fast external storage, external graphics docks, and feature-packed docks. Less glaring shortcomings include the lack of a 1TB storage option, a dismal webcam, and a somewhat fussy trackpad. Even with its flaws, this is a very complete and solid notebook. There's no doubt that it will be amongst the forerunners in next year’s Best Ultraportable Notebook category.

80% Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon review: A gorgeous OLED laptop with killer value
Source: PC World Australia English
The IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon is a beautiful laptop. The stunning OLED display offers the optimal balance between portability and usability at 14 inches in size with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The machine is powered by AMD's stellar Ryzen 7 5800U processor that outclasses its Intel competition in application and multimedia performance. Audio is also excellent on two fronts: the system is quiet during operation and its four speakers produce surprisingly decent sound for such a compact laptop. We've got a few nitpicks about the strength of the lid protecting the gorgeous display and the awful keyboard backlighting, but you simply won't find a better laptop display for the money. This longtime reviewer of laptops has not seen a better display on a laptop that costs less than AU$2,500.

80% Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon review: A gorgeous OLED laptop with killer value

Near the end of last year, I reviewed Lenovo's flagship business ultraportable, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. I was impressed by its sleek chassis, roomy 14-inch display, and comfortable keyboard. If you've been pining for the pricey X1 Carbon but can't fit it into your budget, then I'd recommend turning your attention to the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon. It shares many of the same qualities as the X1 Carbon, but at a lower cost. It boasts a strong multimedia performance and punchy audio, although its keyboard can't match the excellence you get with a ThinkPad. Helping to offset the so-so keyboard is the display, which is an OLED panel that delivers incredible contrast and vibrant colors. It also features what Lenovo dubs a 2.8K (that is, 2880 x 1800) resolution for a razor-sharp picture. OLED displays were just recently the domain of high-priced laptops built for creative pros or C-suite executives, but we're seeing more of them among general-purpose laptops at appealing prices. With one of the best displays you'll find on a laptop that costs less than $2,500, the IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon represents a great value for home users.

Between the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon’s performance and gorgeous display, it’s hard to say no to this machine. However, the battery life could be better, and there are plenty of great machines out there that do exceedingly well in that category. If you want to add an hour to your battery runtime, the MSI Prestige 14 Evo is a solid purchase. However, you’ll be stuck with a dimmer and duller display. Overall, the IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon is a stellar machine, and it would be a shame to miss out on it just because its battery life doesn’t match up with the competition.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Carbon w/ Ryzen 7 5800U Review
Source: Yugatech English
A purchase of something of this caliber would mean that portability is a priority for the end-user. The Slim 7 Carbon with Ryzen 7 5800U should be able to accommodate a quick edit or a quick report to be made while on the go. Although it was meant primarily for productivity purposes, a little gaming can be done on the side. At PHP 86,995, the laptop does its job of being a portable and lightweight device to accommodate basic to intermediate tasks that would be required to be done while traveling. On the downside, since it runs an AMD Ryzen 7, the Thunderbolt capabilities are not present. We would’ve preferred additional USB-Type A ports as an option. Other than that, the Slim 7 Carbon ticks all the right boxes.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon Review: An OLED screen in a laptop that weighs under 2.5 pounds
Source: XDA Developers English
This laptop is just all-around amazing. It’s got a beautiful 90Hz OLED display, AMD Ryzen 5000 power, and it all comes in a package that weighs in at under two and a half pounds. The biggest downside is the HD webcam. If you’re on a lot of video calls, you’re going to feel that. Also, that beautiful display sure uses a good amount of battery. Still, the IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon is so easy to fall in love with.

90% Lenovo Ideapad Slim 7 Carbon review (AMD Ryzen, OLED touchscreen)
Source: Ultrabook Review English
Considering the price is right, I’d have an easy time recommending this Slim 7 Carbon to just about anyone. The main selling points are the practical and lightweight construction, the vivid OLED touchscreen, the balanced everyday experience in terms of performance, thermal and noise levels, as well as the fair battery life. On the other hand, the ultra-minimalist IO, quirky Bluetooth connection, and the particularities of OLEDs on laptops should also be considered in your decision.

80% Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon review: 90Hz OLED? Yes, please
Source: Digital Trends English
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon is a fine addition to the Slim 7 family and the 14-inch laptop class in general. It’s fast, efficient, and enjoys a lovely OLED display. Demanding productivity users will love this laptop, and even creative pros looking for a lower-end laptop to work on in a pinch will find it a good solution. There’s little to fault here except maybe a build quality that’s a little subpar. In addition, the price is good but not great, and it’s too bad that Lenovo doesn’t offer more configuration options — although we suspect those will be coming at some point. The biggest question is whether you want to purchase an AMD Ryzen 5000 series laptop when Ryzen 6000 machines are coming within the next several months.

80% Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon review: 90Hz OLED? Yes, please
Source: Digital Trends English
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 Carbon is, according to its maker, “one of the lightest 14-inch OLED laptops.” It’s certainly light, but with its 90Hz OLED display and speedy AMD Ryzen processor, it has more going on than just that. I should note it does come in at an odd time, though, just a few months before Intel’s 12th-gen and AMD’s Ryzen 6000 CPUs start hitting the street. I reviewed the only configuration currently available, a $1,220 model with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U CPU and a 14-inch 16:10 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED display. Despite using an older processor, the gorgeous display and great performance make this a fantastic laptop for the price.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.

In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.

In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.

14.00:

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.

In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
