80% Improves upon the goods seen in Yoga 3 Pro, at a very steep price though
Source: Tech2.in.com English Archive.org version
Lenovo Yoga 900 takes all the good points of the Yoga 3 Pro and improves upon the one negative aspect of its predecessor to give a really wonderfully crafted all purpose 2-in-1 ultrabook. The price of the Yoga 900 is definitely steep at Rs 1,22,000 – around Rs 7,000 higher than the Yoga 3 Pro. At that price point, Lenovo can only woo only the highest end customers who want a good looking 2-in-1 which will let one do work as well as play, while on the move.

80% What this laptop gives up in size, it gains in power

If the Yoga 3 Pro was like a stick-thin runway model, the Yoga 900 is like a muscle-toned fitness model. The Yoga 900 has much more of an edge over the Yoga 3 Pro when it comes to specs and performance, rather than in purely chic looks. It’d be nice to have seen features on it like 10Gbps USB and a PCIe SSD, but all things considered, it’s still a chart-topping reversible. And everybody will dig the hinge.

Overall, the Lenovo Yoga 900 is one of the best and slimmest, 2-in-1 hybrid ultraportable money can buy. It’s definitely one of the best convertible notebook’s we’ve reviewed so far this year. The hybrid device is recommended for both business professionals and high-end consumers who want a unique product to play with it. If you can afford it, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t buy it. Also to consider in this price bracket, the HP Spectre x360.

A unique twist on luxury laptops
Source: Slashgear English Archive.org version
Those who have only ever used Lenovo's ThinkPad laptops and find them bland will find the YOGA 900 is an entirely different beast, one that is unashamed of its luxurious design elements but able to carry them without pretension. The laptop is, from a purely utilitarian standpoint, entirely suitable for most users' needs.

80% Practically as thin but this hybrid is now far more powerful
Source: Expert Reviews English Archive.org version
The Lenovo Yoga 900 is a significant improvement over last year's Yoga 3 Pro. There’s only one, tiny little problem: Lenovo’s rivals have also made huge strides forward since last year, and this leaves the Lenovo Yoga 900 with some catching up to do. I’ve no issue with the Yoga 900’s super-flexible design. It flits effortlessly from giant tablet to slimline laptop, without the bulk associated with most such designs – but its limber attitude can’t make amends for its flaws. The keyboard is merely acceptable, the touchpad still too small, and the display is middle-of-the-road. For a £1,300 laptop, that just won’t wash.

The Lenovo Yoga 900 is a new take on the laptop Lenovo established with the Yoga 3 Pro. It's slim, it's bendy, it's portable. And now it's more powerful. Some little quibbles about screen black level and a misbehaving trackpad driver mean it doesn't seem quite as interesting as the Microsoft Surface Book. However, it's a little bit cheaper too.

100% Flexing its design muscle
Source: Pocket Lint English Archive.org version
Just a few little niggles hold it back from perfection: the keyboard is annoyingly designed when a 13-inch frame should give it enough room to work with; the screen isn't quite the best at this spec level; and the trackpad seems a touch buggy. Saying that it's absolutely worth its money, though, and needs to be on the considerations list for anyone looking for a classy Ultrabook. One of its only downsides might be that the recently announced, smaller-scale and yet slimmer 900S model may hold yet more appeal.

With the Lenovo Yoga 900, Lenovo proves that it can react relatively quickly to user demand. After launching the Yoga 3 Pro, acclaimed for its industrial design, the feedback from reviewers (including me) and users made it clear that Lenovo needed to offer a similar chassis with superior performance and battery life. It’s now done, and the Yoga 900 is a perfect do-it-all windows laptop.

With the Yoga 900, Lenovo has certainly improved upon the Yoga 3 Pro, continuing its commitment to innovative design and adding several performance upgrades. However, when you consider all the small issues – from screen flickering to flexible casing – it becomes very difficult to shake the feeling that this device could have been significantly better than it is. Your decision over whether or not to buy the Yoga 900 will boil down to what you’re looking for and how much you have to spend. If the price isn't an issue, and you're familiar with the Mac OS, then buy a MacBook instead. The 900 is almost as good as the MacBook in every way – from it’s screen to it’s build quality. It just feels like it’s slightly below the standard you'd expect at this price. Yes, the 900's specs are higher than what you'll find in a MacBook or Surface Book, but unless you’re a power user, you’ll hardly notice the difference. That said, if you're not an Apple fan and are looking for a hybrid Ultrabook, the Yoga 900 has plenty of positive points. It's well designed, works well in both tablet and laptop form, and has managed to improve performance without compromising on battery life.

From the outside, nothing much has changed with the Yoga 900 versus previous editions. It still features the exotic “watchband” hinge that allows the screen to rotate a full 360 degrees so it can be positioned in a variety of orientations, including a slate mode that lets it function like a Windows tablet. The 13.3-inch screen still packs a phenomenal 3200 x 1800-pixel resolution, and at just 2.8 pounds and 16mm of thickness, it’s one of the most portable 13-inch laptops on the market.

All in all, the Yoga 900 hits all of the marks it should. The baseline machine is priced sensibly, and given that it includes 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD, it's one of the few entry level machine we'd be comfortable recommending. Granted, doubling the RAM and SSD will enable the Yoga 900 to breathe a bit more easily, but kudos to Lenovo for selling a starter machine that isn't hamstrung.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 900 sets a new benchmark for 360-degree-rotation convertible notebooks. Not only is this one of the thinnest and lightest 13.3-inch notebooks sold today, but it has some of the longest battery life we’ve seen. We clocked 10 hours and 45 minutes under demanding circumstances, enough for an entire workday plus overtime.

It's hard to not love the Lenovo Yoga 900's style--it's impossibly thin and light and that watchband hinge literally shines. This is a tablet, laptop and presentation/movie watching PC in a single package, with the usual caveat that 13.3", 2.8 lb. tablets are best used resting on a table rather than your arm. It's stylish, reasonably well built and it has a high resolution display.

Lenovo addressed complaints people had with the Yoga 3 Pro by adding a bigger battery, more powerful processor and improved keyboard and trackpad to make the Yoga 900 the best Yoga it has built to date. Even though this may feel like an iterative release, these tweaks add up to make the Yoga 900 a balanced, thoughtfully designed and refined 2-in-1 convertible.

Previously, HP's Spectre x36013t was easily our favorite 13-inch 2-in-1, but the Yoga 900 makes it very difficult to choose between these two commendable convertibles. HP's machine offers a slightly lower starting price and longer battery life, but the Yoga 900's crisp, high-res display; 15 percent lighter body; slick hinge; and even better performance can't be denied.

Comment

Model: Recognizable different from its competitors, the Lenovo Yoga 900 is unbelievable slim and classic looking, yet ready to take the quantum leap in this computerized era. The extremely lightweight computer weighs in at 1.2 kg and delivers a long battery life. The Yoga 900 features a 6th generation Intel Core i7 dual processor, which is designed for maximum performance and efficiency in a laptop. The Yoga 900 is ultra-portable, transportable and versatile, since it can be used in four different modes.

Thanks to excellent cooling, the system can run demanding tasks like games for a long period of time. The Lenovo Yoga 900 focuses on the security features. It comes with an auto lock hinge, which enables opening and fast locking of the laptop even with one hand. Moreover, the convertible features 4 USB 3.0 ports included with 1 USB Type-C port. The Yoga is a great companion due to its high performance and innovative customizable features.

Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrated GPU (GT2) with 24 EUs found on some Skylake CPU models (15 W ULV series).

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

6500U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

13.30":

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.

In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.

In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.

81.56%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
