Leaked Dell product slide suggests Windows 8 tablet for early 2012 release
Blog site AndroidCentral claims to have leaked a roadmap image of Dell’s upcoming tablets, including a Windows 8-based tablet by Q1 2012.
The roadmap timeline lists a Windows 8 tablet condenamed “Peju” that could possibly see a launch next year. The time of release is entirely plausible as Microsoft has already shown early builds of Windows 8 at CES back in January.
Outside of the supposed Windows 8 tablet, AndroidCentral is claiming five more unannounced tablets to be released between now through early next year. This includes a Windows 7 tablet called Rosemount and the Android Honeycomb tablets Gallo, Opus One, Sterling, and Silver Oak. If correct, we should be seeing new tablets from Dell at a pace of about one or two models per quarter.
Currently, Dell offers the Streak as its main line of tablets in the tablet market. The 7-inch Streak shown off at CES this year includes a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, Android 2.2, front-facing 1.3MP camera and 4G capabilities with the cellular network T-Mobile. The tablet is available now for $199 through a 2-year data plan with the carrier.
